(2) Material discharge: Continuously meters dust/material from hopper into disposal container or process. (3) Pressure isolation: Separates different pressure zones (positive to negative or vice versa). Construction: Cylindrical housing, rotor with 6-12 vanes, pockets between vanes carry material from inlet to outlet. Motor-driven 15-60 RPM. Applications: All dust collectors with hoppers, pneumatic conveying systems, silo/bin discharge, process feeding. Critical: Without airlock, hopper dust re-entrains into system defeating collection.
Sizing based on material discharge rate: Step 1: Calculate material volume. pounds/hour or kg/hour to be discharged. Step 2: Determine bulk density. Essential - affects pocket fill.
